Saturday night
|

|
On Saturday night we wanted some cheap entertainment, so we all piled in the minivan and went to a couple of parks in Cincinnati where there are beautiful views of the city. Then we mostly just ran around, climbed on things, arm wrestled, and had stick fights. Free and fun.

On Saturday mornings, we generally do household chores or work projects. It great to be outside in the sunshine today. We got a lot accomplished and we had a good time together.

reunion in Maui

I just got back from a fabulous week in Hawaii.
Some of the highlights:
-being lazy on the beach
-snorkeling with sea turtles
-SCUBA diving 55 feet underwater
-the luau
-a magic/comedy show
-campfire on the beach
-watching the surfers
-eating lots of fresh Mahi-Mahi
-hiking barefoot through a bamboo forest to an amazing waterfall
-watching the sunrise from on top of a volcano at 10,000 feet
-seeing dozens and dozens of humpback whales swimming and breeching close to shore
-swimming in the Pacific almost everyday
-spending time with my beautiful friends

Leap Day

Today was beautiful, so we decided to get outside and play some disc golf. I'm really not all that great at the game. Actually, I'm terrible. Kenny pointed out that in the photograph, it doesn't look like I just released a frisbee... its easier to imagine that I'm getting ready to shake somebody's hand. I'm not sure what my final score was, but I'm sure it was at least double what most of the others had. It was a good time, though. I hope we do it again soon.

This weekend, my friends Jeff and Stacy stayed with us at the convent. Stacy and I became friends when we taught first grade together in Springfield for two years. She's still teaching first grade, and we have managed to stay in touch as I've moved around. During their visit, Ryan, Kenny, Marissa, and I took them to the contemporary arts center in Cincinnati. (It was free on Saturday!) Then we got Thai take-out and watched a movie together. On Sunday morning, we all slept in, and then Stacy, Jeff, Jeremy, and I went to a marionette puppet show of the wizard of oz. It was surprisingly good - and way less creepy than I had anticipated.

Well... the Bell's have moved out.
It was fun helping them get settled into their new place and spending time with their friends in Columbus. Its less than two hours away... perfect for weekend road trips.

a hard day's work

Today my job included a fun trip to Chuck E. Cheese's. I normally babysit on Fridays, but today was a little different. Amy (the kids' mom) had a lot to do, so she stayed home with the two little ones and sent me to Chuck E. Cheese's with her older kids. Sharon and Tracy were having a little party to celebrate Zoe and Nora's fifth birthdays, so I actually got paid to eat pizza and spend time with my friends!
