a going away party

Everybody that lives in the Convent and the Brown House got together on Friday night to share a meal and pretend that we're excited for the Bell's as they move off to Columbus. Its always a good time when we all get together.

back in Cincinnati
After the big reunion, Cheri, Joe, Christina, and Michael came down from Xenia to stay at the convent with me. Michael has been a student at UC for over a year now, so he drove us around Cincinnati for two days. (This worked out beautifully, since I'm still barely able to get around this place!) We went out for Indian food together, to Michael's school and apartment, to the park, to the art museum, a couple of galleries, out for coffee. And now we're all totally exhausted from almost a week of festivities.
Let the new year begin!

New Year's Party
For the second year in a row, I reunited with my college friends to celebrate the new year in Xenia, Ohio. Last year was incredible... so I was a little nervous about trying to recreate something that just couldn't be repeated. As it turns out, this year was a lot more crowded and as good (or better) than last.
My friends Christina and Christa hosted over 60 people in their three room apartment, with about 15 of us camped out there for about three days straight.
I love these people.
My friends are so spread out now. People living in New Hampshire, Illinois, California, and even Japan were back together for this beautiful reunion. We shared food together, talked for long hours, and played games that kept us awake until dawn... and then we crashed on all the available couches and floor space in the apartment. Three glorious days of this! And we all had to take it in with big gulps, because many of us won't see each other again until next year's reunion.

Merry Christmas
I am home in New Hampshire!! It has been so nice to be with my family. We always do most of our celebrating on Christmas Eve, which basically just means dinner together and exchanging gifts. I got everything I asked for this year: an ice scraper for my car, a hair dryer, and a hat and mittens. My nana baked me some applesauce bread, and I was also given some money that is to be used for traveling. Everyone was so generous, and it just feels good to be home.
Merry Christmas, friends.

12x12 art show
On Wednesday night, we all helped set up for the art show/benefit concert at St. Elizabeth's. I was involved with hanging up Christmas lights all over the place. Some people were in charge of cleaning up the pigeon poop that was all over the floor; others hung art. Jonathan played festive music for us... Its all about teamwork.
I happen to be surrounded by all sorts of really talented people. The art and music were beautiful... plus there were Christmas lights and candles and good people. It was a happy combination and made for a great Friday night.

the first snow
The first snow!! This morning after breakfast, we all went outside and played in the snow. Our friends in the Brown House (including the dogs) and some of the neighborhood kids joined us for a snowball fight, snow angels, building a snow person, and drinking hot chocolate. The snow continues to fall...

Allison Elementary School

Ryan, Wilson, and I got to volunteer at a neighborhood holiday party at the elementary school down the street. Vineyard Community Church put the whole thing together, but they let us help out. It was a good time and a fun way to get to know some of our neighbors.
