the road trip, day 2: hometown, new hampshire
We all arrived at my parents' house in Nashua late on Monday night after another five hours on the road. The next day we all slept in, had breakfast with my parents, went for a walk in a park with my sister and mom, ate ice cream at Haywards, and had a cookout with my friends at Cheri and Joe's new house. We played a competitive game of Cranium, boys vs. girls. I won't say who won.
Sigh... it was so good to be home.

road trip, day one: new york city
Our road trip began early on Sunday morning. Kim, Elizabeth, Matthias, Ryan, and I squeezed into my Volvo, and about eleven hours later, we arrived in New York City. The Henry's friends took care of us while we were there. The Morrisons not only gave us a place to stay for the night, they also filled us with food and gave us maps, directions, and subway passes!
We only had 24 hours in the city, so we packed in as much as we possibly could...
We started out by taking a free ride on the ferry to Staton Island for a view of the night skyline and 'our lady'. Then we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge.
In the morning, Matthias took off for the Empire State Building while the rest of us (who didn't want to spend $12 and wait in a long line for an elevator) went to Central Park. They were filming a low budget movie while we were there... look for 'Little Manhattan' at a Blockbuster near you. From there we went to the Rockafellar Center, St. Thomas' and St. Patrick's cathedrals. We met up with Matthias for lunch at Grand Central Station, and then we all went to Times Square together. We ended our day at Ground Zero.
The whole day happened in a whirlwind and seemed a bit surreal. It was fun and exhausting...

Ryan and Logan's parents are in town, and Jeremy's daughter Sophie came to visit. So we went to Chuck E. Cheese's to celebrate.

twenty-five and paper flowers
The convent "family" took me out for Thai food at Lemongrass in celebration of my twenty-fifth birthday. Then I got together with a bunch of the women from the community to make tissue paper flowers as decorations for Juli's up-coming wedding.

reds vs. rangers
Last night Carrie, Jon, Matthias, Ryan, Linford, Steve, Joseph, and I went to a Red's game. Bleacher seats were only $4... half the price of parking! It was a great game, and I especially enjoyed sitting next to Matthias during his first American baseball experience.... His first experience with baseball, period. For probably the first time in my life, I was able to answer someone's questions about a sport. For example, "What do you call the thing that they use to bat the ball?"
I know that one! Its a bat.

Congratulations to Marissa and Kenny! Their daughter Josephine was born at 6pm on June 9, weighing 8lbs 3oz. Marissa is super tough and delivered totally naturally. I held Josie within the first 24 hours of her life on the outside, and as you can see, she is beautiful.

trash pick-up
After a brief time of worship on Tuesday night, our house church went out in small groups to collect trash in our neighborhood. On the way, we had some very interesting finds (including a pair of underwear and a rather disturbing photograph) and interacted with some interesting people (including one man who publicly urinated in the UDF parking lot). Ah, Norwood. Home sweet home.

saturday's work and play
On Saturday morning, we had breakfast and worked together as usual. This week's projects included relocating the compost pile, smashing concrete for a rock wall, fixing a bathroom ceiling, and cleaning the house.
Later that night, Ryan, Logan, Matthias, Carrie, and I went to the drive-in. The first show began at 12:15am (Shrek 2)... and we ended up staying for the second show at 2am (Harry Potter). Its been years since I've been to a drive-in. Fun times...
