Congratulations to Christina for finishing school! I went up to Xenia on Saturday to celebrate with her and several other friends.
And congratulations to Tom and Nicole! On Sunday, I drove up to Washington Court House to visit with them and their new baby, Soren Thomas. He's perfect.
And congratulations to Elizabeth for the success of her marshmallows! On Sunday afternoon, I made it back down to Cincinnati for her fantastic thesis art exhibition.

Five from our household (Dave, Matthias, Kim, Ryan and I) went to the Abbey of Gethsemani this week for a week of solitude and silence. For me, it was a place of true rest and peace. I spent a lot of time walking through the woods and sunny meadows or quietly watching the rain from a window. I didn't use my camera much while I was there... but Matthias took lots of beautiful photos. I included several of his pictures so that you could get a better idea of what the place was like.

One of the great things about living in community is that there are always people around who are willing to do things together spontaneously. This is a miscellaneous collection of pictures taken over the course of a week including a cookout, a game of Frisbee, a trip to Walgreens, and a Pedro the Lion/Death Cab for Cutie show.

When you live with a lot of people, it seems like there are always reasons to celebrate. This time we gathered to celebrate the anticipated arrival of Kenny and Marissa's baby. (Sometime around June 7 there will be a new little Havens!) These are some of the photos from the shower.

On Friday evening, the doors of St. Elizabeth's (the 100 year-old church on the property here) were open to the neighborhood and community.
Via Crucis was a beautiful worship immersion through the stations of the cross. I hesitated to post photographs from the event, because the experience simply cannot be conveyed in pictures.
A few of my friends were interested in getting a glimpse of what we had here, since they were unable to attend. These photographs do little to capture the images of the experience, and they offer nothing of sounds or smells.... still, this is the best way I have to share it.

Love the pics Cat! You pick great angles. (and I still want to get them on CD soon) Mon 19-Apr-2004 17:52

This morning our whole household took the bus to downtown Cincinnati. We went to the Carew tower for a view of the city, hung out in Fountain Square, stopped by Graters for ice cream, picnicked in a park, and visited the library.

On Sunday, I drove about an hour north to participate in a thumb wrestling tournament in Washington Court House. (Actually, I just went there to visit friends, but as it got later into the night, we decided a thumb wrestling tournament would be a good idea.) It was a real challenge, but I finished as the champion. It was a special moment.
